SOCIAL COMMITEE
Our new social committe are already at work and planning some great events. The committee of Dave Doyle, Petra Zink, Taryn Richardson, Andrew Callow, Kristy Bell and Yas Grigaluinas are putting some plans together now for some events this year.
The first will be the after party at Mooloolaba, a bbq after Luke Harrop on the Gold Coast and the end of season party in June. Stay tuned for more details but it is looking like a lot of fun. Thanks to the committee for volunteering their time and we look forward to Mooloolaba.
The Mooloolaba and Noosa after parties are always a great highlight as we make life member presentations and give away the $2500 home theatre Panasonic 3D TV from our friends at Videopro.
BEGINNER COURSE
Our latest beginner course graduates this week at Raby Bay. This course have really bonded well together and are all looking forward to racing this weekend with some of them also getting a late entry into Mooloolaba.
If you're at Raby Bay this weekend make them feel welcome. Stay tuned to facebook for a post race get together after the race.
Our next course starts on March 13th and it looks like it will be the biggest this year. They will finish with Luke Harrop on April 22nd.
RACES
With Mooloolaba around the corner we have a couple of weeks of racing ahead with Raby Bay and then the TQ champs at Redcliffe. These races are a last chance to tune up before Mooloolaba where we expect to have between 80 and 100 BTS members competing.
We also have different members travelling over the next couple of weeks for further events in the World Championship qualifying series. This part of the year is often the time when people are getting towards peak fitness which is indicative of the training we're doing.
As always remember with hard training monitor your recovery and ensure that you're having some easy days to balance out the hard interval sessions. The easy aerobic sessions are crucial to improving your performance and making sure that your body has that aerobic capacity to perform on race day.
KYLE RICHARDSON FUNDRAISER
The fundraiser last Sunday for Kyle Richardson was a great success and helped contribute approximately $800 towards Kyle's Olympic Campaign. Thanks to everyone who went along and helped make the day a success.
BUSSO IM MEETING
For all those doing Busso IM in December we're having a meeting this Sunday from 11.30am at the Grigaluinas household. Morning tea and refreshments will be provided but please bring your own chair.
UNIFORMS
It's great to see the demand for the new BTS Tri Suits. We have ordered another lot of suits that might be available the week of Mooloolaba.
We are also in the process of getting a new BTS shirt designed and also looking into new cycling gear. Like the new one piece suits we're trying to ensure it will be high quality and look good.
COACHING
Big John Agyik is back from his overseas holiday and will be stepping into coaching Tuesday and Thursday night swimming now that Troy Watson has moved to Sydney in his role with Triathlon Australia.
John has been with BTS from day dot and is a very capable and skilled coach as well as being one of Queenslands best age group triathletes on his day.
NEW MEMBERS
Last week we posted on the BTS Facebook page an invitation for members new to BTS to let us know more about them. How they pay the bills, their age and their worst habit.
By letting us know you go into a draw to win a free service from our great sponsors at Avanti Plus the Valley. We'll be doing the draw at the end of this week so if you're new jump on facebook to tell us all about yourself.
PURESPORT
We have also been giving away some boxes of Puresport Workout stick packs at different training sessions. We'll continue to do this right up until Mooloolaba.
The stick packs are a great way to refill on your long rides as they sit easily in your jersey pocket.
