WELCOME TO 2012 - WHAT'S COMING UP
Greetings of the season to everyone. We hope that your Christmas and New Year was a relaxing and joyful one that has you ready to face another year. We have many events and races to look forward to this year starting with the Club Champs on the 15th at Robina.
There are quite a few clubs that have targeted this year's champs hoping to take home the title so we'll have our work cut out to beat them. When entering on line with USM please ensure you place BTS as your club and we'll receive a point per competitor plus bonus points for people that place in the top 5 of their category.
For anyone that competes at the Robina club champs we will be offering a random draw prize that contains one months free training, a free entry from Mizuno to a QTS race and a $50 Aqua Shop voucher.
After Club Champs we have our annual Mooloolaba Training camp. We do need final numbers as soon as possible and final payments by January 20th into the BTS account. Our camps cater for all abilities and you don't have to racing Mooloolaba to get a benefit from the camp. Contact suz@brisbanetrisquad.com.au to reserve your place.
We also have another beginner course starting the day after Robina which will finish with the Raby Bay QTS race on February 26th. Prior to that there is the Hell of the West and Caloundra QTS on February 5th while there are quite a few heading to Geelong on the 12th of February to further gain points for World Champs selection.
We also have a few athletes travelling to Sydney, Canberra and Melbourne for qualifying races in the Sprint Distance format and then once we get into March the countdown for Mooloolaba, IM New Zealand and IM Melbourne starts.
After that it is onto Luke Harrop Tri on the Gold Coast in April, another beginner course, Byron Bay Tri in May and Cairns Challenge in June. Regardless of what you're training for we will be able to help you with with your preparation.
WEBSITE
You may have noticed that we have changed the website slightly. This is so we can have more information about BTS and what we offer. We apologise for any slight "kinks" that still may exist. These will be finalised within the next few days.
TRAINING
Now that Christmas break is behind us it's time to again build up for the many big events we have coming up. Triathlon is a strength/endurance sport and as such there will be a strength focus for the next few weeks before we go back into some speed work closer to the races.
The novice level sessions will continue to focus on developing skills across the swim, bike and run. In the main squad sessions please check the calendar for locations as they do change especially the Wednesday morning bike and Saturday morning sessions.
This Saturday morning we have the Cootha Challenge in line working on some strength. There will be 2 groups available, a 1hr group for beginner level and 2hr group. The objective is to see how many laps you can complete in the allotted time. Start time is 5.30am from JC Slaughter Falls Car Park.
