IRONMAN WA 2011

The IM event in Busso has become a great event for IM athletes around Australia. Great location, fast course and a town that gets behind the race makes it an event to do.

This year we had 3 athletes competing with all making it across the line to become an IM finisher for the first time. Callan Lloyd and Josh Marsden both competed in the 25-29 age group with Josh coming 6th in a time of 10.10 and Callan 11th in a time of 10.30.

For a couple of young blokes doing their first IM it was a great effort and they raced with maturity beyond their years. In the men's 40-44 we had big Steve "Ando" Anderson who showed much determination and grit to finish in 16.16.

Ando will be the first to admit that he had a less than ideal preparation with a job in the mines but he demonstrated that it takes a lot to stop this big man. From everyone at BTS congrats to Callan, Josh and Ando for a job well done.

IRONMAN 2012 - BUSSO

The 2012 Busso event will be the BTS IM event for 2012. We have a few athletes competing in New Zealand, Melbourne and Port Macquarie in 2012 but the Busso event will be the big one for BTS.

Entries open this Friday at 10am and we expect that there will be between 20 and 30 members from the squad entering the 2012 event. If you're on line at 10am I would expect that you will get an entry.

THANKS

Our super swim coach, Bronny is leaving us at the end of the year. Bronny has decided to hang up her swim coaching goggles and focus on new pursuits in life. One of the constants from day one in BTS has been Bronny and her great swim coaching sessions for our members.

So it is with great sadness we say goodbye to Bronny and thank her for the outstanding contribution she has made to BTS. Bronny's caring nature and cheerful disposition have made a huge impact on the sessions she coaches so we will all miss her.

On behalf of the whole coaching team and all the past and present members of BTS we would like to thank Bronny and wish her and her family all the best in the next chapter of her life.

RABY BAY QTS

This Sunday is the last Gatorade QTS race for 2011 at Raby Bay. It is also the graduating race for the current beginner course participants.

Many squad members will be using the race as their last hit out of 2011 before building into the 2012 season. As usual the team from Performance Podiatry and Physiotherapy and Brett from Elite Sports Massage will be there to assist.

The next race of the QTS series is Robina on January 15th and club champs so make sure when you enter you list BTS as your club to gain a point. The more members we have competing the better as we try and win back the title.

ARTICLES

Over the last couple of weeks we have had a couple of squad members write about their experiences. Firstly Kellie Liddelow and her struggles in overcoming major back surgery and today Christian Seymour on his journey from a 127kg overweight man on a one way ticket to the grave to a slim 80kg triathlete.

Both are great stories in determination and perseverance and well worth a read. Go to
http://www.brisbanetrisquad.com.au/Articles.php to read them and any other articles we have.

If you have a story that you would like to tell please send it in. Sometimes our greatest inspirations are right next to us with out even knowing it.

Whilst we look to the professionals with great admiration and marvel at their abilities, sometimes it is the humble age grouper that balances work, family and life that we can learn the most from.
