TRAINING - CHANGES TO TIMETABLE
From next week there are couple of minor changes to the training timetable. These changes are:
- Monday night swimming first session will now start at 5.15pm instead of 5.30pm. So the two sessions are 5.15-6.15pm and 6.15-7.15pm and will be for beginner level swimmers and those wanting an easier stroke correction session.
- Monday night core session will change for the Summer. We'll continue to start with running drills and plyometrics on Valley Primary School Oval before going back to the Valley Pool for a core and general strength session. Then to finish off with we will do a 30-45 min aerobic - tempo pace run. Once Summer is over and the season is finished we'll go back into some more boxing.
- The Tuesday morning beginner cycling and Wednesday morning beginner run will swap days. This allows more flexibility with the sessions and will be able to bring the whole squad together on a more regular basis. The sessions will still cater for differing abilities and there will be 2 coaches at both sessions.
As we finish off the year we'll continue to mix the sessions up a bit with different locations on the ride and doing some drills and fartlek work on the run.
XMAS PARTY 2011
This years BTS Christmas Party is on December 4th from 2pm at the East Brisbane Croquet Club. The theme this year is "Over the top" so bring out any costumes that you think fit the theme.
Cost is $30 which includes food, venue hire and croquet with BYO drinks. Please pay into the BTS bank account by November 30th.
We'll also be giving away a digital camera courtesy of our great sponsors at Videopro through a random draw on the day so it could be a great Christmas present for someone.
PORT 70.3 IM
We had a small crew compete at the Port 70.3 IM event last Sunday. The organisers change the course back to the original IM course from 2006 with the hills in the run meaning the competitors had a tough day.
Special congratulations to Marina Mangano and Tash Alford who did their first half IM events and also backed up after completing Noosa the previous week. Paul Thistleton, Callan Lloyd and Paul Scroggie all had good races to post sub 5 hr times.
Sarah Hulme had showed great determination to finish after copping a kick in the ribs in the swim while Alicia Newman and Krista Page had good days to go just over 6hrs.
PURESPORT WORKOUT STICK PACKS
If you took advantage of the free offer from Puresport for a box of workout stick packs they are now available for pick up at Avanti Plus, The Valley.
GATORADE SERIES RACE 2 - ROBINA
The second race of the Gatorade race at Robina is this weekend over the 400/15/4 distance. We have a few doing their first triathlon this weekend and many using the race as a hit out towards bigger races coming up.
To help any BTS and GCTS members on Sunday we have Rob Taylor (physio) and Katie Harder (massage) from our GCTS sponsors Gold Coast Physio and Sports Health. They will be there from 8-10am for any physio and massage requirements.
On Wednesday we presented a $560 cheque to the Geebung Special School from the pick your Noosa time. A big thanks to Yas Grigaluinas for the work in getting everyone's times and for everyone who contributed.
In the photo is the Deputy Principal, Yas and three of the students at the front of the school. The funds will go into the schools saving account for future projects.
