RACE RESULTS

Last Sunday saw some great results for the first big of weekend of racing this season. Firstly at the World Champs in Beijing we had Paul Thistelton competing in the highly competitive 35-39 age group.

In Paul's second visit to a World Champs he had a great race to place 17th in 2.14, which based on the times of the winners was a very good result. Normally at the Worlds the winning age group times for men are well under 2hrs however this year the winning times were all above 2hrs

Any time you place top 20 at the Worlds you know you have raced well so a big congrats to Paul on his efforts. Closer to home the first major race of the season was the Kingscliffe Triathlon, held in perfect conditions.

Each year QSM Sports have improved this event and now offer a very affordable and enjoyable race. We had a reasonable size crew down there competing with some pb's and podium's. In the Tempta race Kellie Liddelow won her age group to show she is back on track after her big crash earlier in the year.

In the OD event the highlights were Tim Franklin and Paul Scroggie who recorded pb's of 2.16 while Brad Jones and Callan Lloyd also did well to post a 2.13 and 2.15 respectively. In the ladies Amanda Johns placed second in the ladies 30-34 in 2.28 which is outstanding considering it was first her OD event and she only completed our beginner course in March this year.

There was also some quick BTS ladies in the teams event taking first and second. Congratulations to all who did compete in what is sure to become a must do event in years to come.

At the Bridge to Brisbane we had quite a few testing their running legs after a solid winter. Those who recorded pb's included Tim Osborne, Shannon Dooland, John Miles (2.5min), Alan and Jack Kepper while Mark Gleeson was just outside his.

TRAINING

For those not going to camp and the predicted fine weather this weekend its a great opportunity to get out and do some long easy aerobic miles on the bike and run. On the back of a recovery week it is nice way to finish the week and get ready for another hard block leading into Noosa and beyond.

Next weekend is our first transition session at Redcliffe and then we'll continue to mix up the weekend sessions with various types of sessions to have you race ready. There will also be a couple of more time trials in there to measure your progress.
